Jane Edwards is recognised as one of Australia’s leading businesswomen with a distinguished professional career spanning more than 30 years. She has given 25 years service on numerous boards and committees.
A former journalist, Jane is recognized as a specialist in issues management and strategic communication planning. She plays a key role in client service at her company BBS Public Relations which she founded in 1989, particularly through government liaison and corporate strategies for major clients across all industries.
Since 2001 Jane has been the Honorary Consul for France in Queensland and has served as Patron of the French Foreign Legion and the Troupes de Marine. Last year she was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite (National Order of Merit).
Jane is the founding Chairman of the annual Premier’s Literary Awards, and was the first woman in 103 years to Chair the Board of Trustees of the Queensland Art Gallery.
She has served as a director of the Queensland Museum, is Deputy Chairman of Opera Queensland and is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, University of Queensland.
